Right here in Albuquerque, action is being taken to help those struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic. Albuquerque Mutual Aid, a community organization funded primarily by donations, has made it their mission to support families and individuals in Albuquerque who have been most heavily affected by the virus. Many of whom are surviving without shelter or reliable income.
Volunteers from Mutual Aid prepare and deliver care packages with essential goods. In only several weeks after the pandemic spread to New Mexico, the organization was able to deliver to nearly 3000 people, and this number is growing every day.
This inspiring story exemplifies not only what has been done by the organization, but also the ability for a small group of volunteers to have a big impact on a community.
